Carl Zeiss Restructures Leadership Team with Focus on Industry Growth

On 1 October 2025, Carl Zeiss AG will implement a strategic reorganization of its Executive Board, reflecting its dedication to advancing industrial quality and research solutions. A notable leadership transition sees Dr. Marc Wawerla stepping into the role of Head of the Zeiss Industrial Quality & Research (IQR) segment, succeeding Dr. Jochen Peter, who will explore opportunities beyond Zeiss. These changes emphasize Zeiss’s commitment to enhancing its offerings in critical growth areas like digitalization and sustainable manufacturing. 

Carl Zeiss AG, a leader in optics and optoelectronics, is adapting to the evolving industrial landscape through executive restructuring. Dr. Marc Wawerla, an expert in industrial metrology and digital transformation, will bring his vast experience gained since joining Zeiss in 2010 to his new position. Previously, Dr. Wawerla has contributed significantly across various business units, including Zeiss Vision Care and Consumer Market segments. In parallel, Susan-Stefanie Breitkopf, the current Chief Transformation Officer, will leave Zeiss on 30 September 2025. Her role in spearheading digital transformation efforts will be redistributed among board members to maintain momentum in this crucial domain.
