LivingCare Debuts Ziwig Endotest Saliva Test in Yorkshire

Yorkshire-based healthcare provider LivingCare Group has launched Endotest, a saliva-based endometriosis diagnostic developed by French company Ziwig, following a recent National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) draft guidance recommendation. Announced on 21 September 2026, LivingCare will be among the first providers in the North of England to offer the microRNA biomarker signature test, opening a substantial new commercial front in UK women’s health diagnostics.

Endometriosis affects more than one in ten women, with average diagnosis time of 8 to 10 years due to reliance on invasive laparoscopic surgery under general anaesthetic. Symptoms including severe period pain, bloating and fertility difficulties are often normalised or mistaken for other conditions, driving substantial diagnostic delays. Endotest analyses microRNA biomarkers in a saliva sample to assess whether endometriosis is likely to be present, providing results to the treating clinician. NICE has updated its draft guidance recommending Endotest as the only technology currently recommended for diagnosing endometriosis in primary care.

Dr Rebecca Mawson, GP and women’s health specialist at LivingCare Group, positioned Endotest as enabling earlier answers, less time living with unexplained symptoms and potentially avoiding invasive procedures where not required. LivingCare has also launched WID-easy, a non-invasive PCR test for women aged 45 and over experiencing unusual bleeding to identify heightened bowel and womb cancer risk. Founded in 2002, LivingCare serves both private and NHS patients across Yorkshire. The launch places LivingCare in a competitive women’s health diagnostics landscape alongside broader endometriosis therapeutics manufacturers Bayer (Visanne), AbbVie (Orilissa), Myovant/Sumitomo Pharma (Myfembree) and Neurocrine Biosciences.

The commercial signal is a rapidly maturing FemTech and women’s health diagnostics category where non-invasive biomarker-based approaches are emerging as transformative alternatives to surgical diagnosis. NICE endorsement provides substantial UK adoption momentum. Expect Ziwig’s Endotest to expand across UK NHS and private markets, alongside continued competitive investment from Bayer, AbbVie, Myovant/Sumitomo Pharma and Neurocrine Biosciences across the wider endometriosis therapeutic ecosystem.
