Hannah Leeper
In the fast-paced realm of life sciences, professionals seek more than just a job—they pursue opportunities that resonate with their aspirations for meaningful impact, continuous growth, and a balanced lifestyle.
As a life science recruiter specialising in the dynamic field of IVD, I’ve collated some valuable insights into what drives these talented individuals, a big turn-off for candidates in the current market is an overly complicated hiring process!
Streamlining the hiring process is paramount in a competitive industry where talent is scarce. Efficiency is key and attractive for both prospective candidates and recruitment partners. By optimizing recruitment procedures, we can swiftly connect candidates with opportunities that align with their skills and aspirations, fostering a more seamless transition into impactful roles.
A study completed in 2022 by People Management determined that more than three-quarters (78%) of jobseekers would drop out or consider dropping out of long or complex recruitment processes
The latest ONS data in October 2023 revealed that, of those surveyed, 71% of prospective candidates revealed that they had either dropped out or considered dropping out of their most recent recruitment experience. The top three reasons cited for this were:
- The process was taking too long
- It was too complicated
- There were too many touchpoints
Focus on striking a balance between creating a hiring process that enables both employers and prospective employees to explore their alignment to the role and company, whilst not disengaging candidates.
