Using a Recruiter vs Applying Directly

10th August 2017

You may not have considered using a recruitment agency when you’re looking for a new role. Maybe it’s because you have had a bad experience in the past, or it is because you don’t understand how they can help you when you could apply directly to the company. Here we look at reasons why you shouldn’t rule out recruitment agencies:

  1. We know people

Established recruitment agencies will have direct connections with hiring managers within companies. Zenopa has been working within the healthcare industry for over 25 years, working with some of the leading UK healthcare companies and have built up strong relationships. This could help you get in instead of you relying on your CV standing out from a pile.  We can proactively receive honest feedback directly from hiring managers and relay this back to you.

If you apply to a company directly for a job role, and then ask a recruiter to help, generally we wouldn’t be able to as you will already be in the company’s database. If you wish to apply for roles directly as well as use an agency, it might be worth checking to see if there is a relationship there beforehand. Even if there is no relationship, the agency may have an insight into the company that could change your mind into applying.

  1. We can dedicate the time

Trying to find the time in the day for you to research and look for suitable roles, can be difficult. Many who use job board will set up alerts to come into their inbox, but once you manage to grab a few minutes to look and apply, the position might have already been filled. A recruitment agency will be able to dedicate more time researching any live roles available and matching you to roles that fit your skill set and requirements.

  1. We have exclusive roles

Sometimes we have access to roles that are not advertised on other job boards or with other recruitment agencies. If you are not working with us, you could miss out on being matched for the right role for you that is not available in the public domain.

  1. We can give you more details on the role

Job descriptions and website descriptions don’t always go into much details due to limited resourcing and time given to add these within a working day. By chatting to a consultant within a recruitment agency, they can expand on the role and give you more details on the company and what it is they are looking for within a candidate. By chatting through and being given more information on what is expected with the role, you can make a decision more quickly as to whether this is the right type of role for you, and not invest a lot of time to then find out that this is not for you further down in the process.

  1. We know the company

The beauty of using a recruitment agency is that if you are selected for interview, we can offer you advice and give you information on the company that you wouldn’t be able to know by researching on the internet. By taking the time to get to know you beforehand, this puts us in the best position to place you in a company where there will be the best cultural fit for both of you, and we can offer you guidance and support in preparing for your interview/s to ensure you leave a lasting impression.

  1. We can chase up your applications on your behalf.

Once you apply for a role directly, you sometimes find that you don’t hear anything from the company, and you’re left wondering if you have progressed through to the next stage or not. An agency can find this out for you and keep you updated on how well your application is progressing. We can also provide you with other information such as how many other candidates are through to final or if there has been a change in circumstances.

  1. We can act as the middle man

We can act as the go- between for you and the company which can allow you to give us completely honest feedback and let us know about any of your concerns, hesitations, wants and needs. We can then take this feedback and relay this in a receptive way to the company. We can also act as a negotiator on your behalf and help you get the best offer possible if you are offered a role.

  1. We can give you constructive feedback

We are known as recruitment with integrity, and want to help you get your dream role. Any feedback that we are given from interviews that we have set up for you we will let you know and will offer you the support and guidance from this feedback to improve on your next interview.
