Why Recruitment is my Panacea

16th June 2014

I am proud to be part of the recruitment industry. There, I said it.

Playing a small fraction in this preposterously challenging industry is something that I wake up in the morning fascinated and eager to discover what awaits me and indeed my colleagues here at Zenopa. Recruitment is one of those jobs in the truest sense of its meaning that can vary dramatically each minute of the day.  Forge this hand in hand with working within the medical industry and two extremely powerful; unpredictable giants of evolution explode with continuous pace and excitement.

Recruitment is more than just a job for me. Like most people in recruitment, I did not leave university pining for a career as a recruiter. I decided to tread the boards as an actor, attending drama school and having three and a half years of moderate success before an unfortunately timed virus grabbed me on a lovely holiday in Turkey. It really made me realise that your health truly is everything! I decided I needed a change of direction. Recruitment didn’t at first seem the logical choice, but after a long chat with a friend of mine who worked in the recruitment industry, I started to realise that there were many parallels of a recruiter to being an actor. The most apparent and obvious one is the necessity to be extremely thick skinned. Handling rejection in the performing arts world is very much part of the fabric and makeup of it. I was warned before entering the realm of recruitment that being able to deal with refutation was an essential ingredient to being successful. This in mind I enthusiastically entered this new world, determined to forge a new successful career.

Since joining Zenopa just over a year ago, I have now found a company that allows me not only to enjoy the drama of recruitment, but also to learn a lot about the Medical Device world. I have an avid interest in medical devices after my experience and feel privileged to be a part of an industry dedicated to providing solutions to improve the lives of people. Not many jobs or indeed companies can claim to do just that!
