3M and EV Group settle patent infringement

23rd December 2008

3M and EV Group have come to an agreement to settle the patent infringement litigation brought against 3M in the US, it has been reported.

Wafer-processing company EV Group brought the litigation against 3M, concerning systems for temporary wafer bonding.

Following the settlement of the suit – which was raised in the US district court for the southern district of New York – the licensed suppliers of 3M’s Wafer Support System will carry on making, selling and using the system in packaging and semi-conductor markets.

While other details of the settlement are confidential, a statement said EV Group "will continue to defend its patent portfolio and protect its intellectual property".
