3M announces Abrasivos acquisition
3M has announced the acquisition of coated abrasives manufacturer Abrasivos.
While the terms of the transaction have not been disclosed, the Peruvian company’s ASA branded range will complement 3M’s products, vice-president of the Abrasive Systems division Chris Holmes commented.
3M’s brands in this sector – described as the company’s "heritage business" – include Scotch-Brite, Cubitron and Trizact, while Abrasivos has over 40 years’ experience in the convertion and production of coated abrasives.
Commenting on the deal, Miguel Rios, regional managing director at 3M Peru, added: "Investing in a local company from the industrial sector expands our product portfolio and will allow us to better support our customers in Peru."
Those in science sales jobs may be interested in 3M’s other recent acquisitions. Last month, the firm announced completed transactions with wire identification systems manufacturer Grafoplast, while at the beginning of December a deal with finished number plate provider Financiere Burgienne was reported.
