3M launches Sign Grant Programme

14th January 2009

3M has announced its Traffic Safety Systems division is to launch a new programme in the US to reduce the cost of replacing road signs in order to meet retroreflectivity standards.

The Sign Grant Programme – which began earlier this month and will continue until November 30th – follows new guidelines set by the Federal Highway Administration aimed at improving traffic safety.

One-time grants are available to government agencies to help with the costs to encourage early planning, according to 3M Traffic Safety Systems’ highway safety business director Tom McGlynn.

"We’ll work alongside agencies to improve traffic sign brightness and visibility to help meet and exceed the elevated safety standards," he added in a statement.

Products such as 3M Diamond Grade DG3 Reflective Sheeting and 3M High Intensity Prismatic Reflective Sheeting make signage clearer at night and therefore make roads safer, the statement continued.

Those in science sale jobs may also be interested in 3M’s acquisition of Beirsdorf’s Futuro compression hosiery and health supports product range. The deal was announced last month. ADNFCR-1050-ID-18972052-ADNFCR
