Abbott receives CE Mark approval for new Alinity diagnostic tools
Abbott has announced that several of its Alinity-branded diagnostic products and tools have been granted European CE Mark approval.
The company has received the green light to launch its new Alinity CI-series instruments for clinical chemistry and immunoassay diagnostics, which have been designed to offer quicker results and a reduced risk of manual error.
Key benefits include increased loading capacity for samples and tests, continuous access to solutions and supplies, secure solution bottles to ensure the right solutions can only be inserted into the proper location, and intuitive menu and interface designs.
Additionally, CE Mark approval has been received for the Alinity S system for blood and plasma screening, which allows screening to be carried out faster and more efficiently, with a smaller footprint than current Abbott systems.
Using this system, labs can expand their capacity to run up to 600 tests per hour – at least twice as much as competitive standalone instruments.
Brian Blaser, executive vice-president for diagnostics products at Abbott, said: "Abbott is bringing meaningful innovation to diagnostic testing, elevating the role it plays in improving clinical decision-making and delivering high-quality care to patients."
