Abbott receives CE Mark for i-Stat Alinity blood testing platform

2nd December 2016

Abbott has received European CE Mark approval for a new blood testing platform that can provide results in as little as two to ten minutes.

The i-Stat Alinity system can perform and analyse the largest menu of blood tests on a single device, ranging from blood chemistries to cardiac markers, and requires only two to three drops of blood to provide results.

Its wireless connectivity capability allows healthcare providers to manage diagnostic data within the broader healthcare system's network, while it also offers cloud connectivity via a standard web browser.

Other key attributes include a user-friendly colour touchscreen interface and an ergonomic design with easy-grip handling, as well as a durable build to prevent damage from drops and harsh cleaning substances.

Sharon Bracken, vice-president of point-of-care diagnostics at Abbott, said: "Whether in emergency departments, critical care settings or rural areas, i-STAT Alinity allows clinicians to make timely and informed treatment decisions that help people get back to better health."
