Abbott to provide diagnostic products and services for three NHS trusts

Abbott has signed a managed equipment services contract that will see the company provide diagnostic products and services for three NHS trusts.

The company has agreed a deal for the supply of analytical equipment and consumables, including the Alinity CI and Alinity H series of diagnostics instruments, as well as the AlinIQ line of professional services and informatics solutions.

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust and the Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust will all benefit from this contract, having consolidated their pathology services into a single body called North West London Pathology earlier this year.

The partnership is expected to manage 26 million tests per year and currently holds six percent of the total pathology market in the UK.

Mike Clayton, managing director for Abbott's diagnostics business in Northern Europe, said: "We will equip NWLP to help maximise productivity, drive faster delivery of test results and provide the critical information needed for clinical decisions – with the goal of helping the trust improve patient outcomes."
