AbbVie launches inflammation-focused art gallery at ECCO 2014

20th February 2014

AbbVie has announced the launch of a new art initiative that will help to broaden understanding of patient experiences of immune-mediated inflammatory disease.

The Perspectives – Art, Inflammation and Me gallery is debuting at the 2014 congress of the European Crohn's and Colitis Organisation (ECCO), which is taking place in Copenhagen from February 20th to 22nd.

It features more than 200 unique artistic expressions – around half of which will be showed at ECCO – all inspired by collaborations between artists and patients. The initiative involves more than 200 artists from more than 40 countries around the world, plus students from various universities.

Perspectives will visit various art galleries and medical conferences throughout the world over the course of the year.

Dr Isidro Villanueva, group therapeutic area lead for medical affairs at AbbVie's immunology, said: "AbbVie is a global, research-based biopharmaceutical company committed to addressing some of today's toughest health challenges. Helping others understand the impact associated with some of these chronic conditions is part of that commitment."

Last month, AbbVie announced its financial results for 2013, its first year as an independent company. During the 12 months, it experienced year-on-year growth of 2.2 percent.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801695612-ADNFCR
