Abcam reveals possible takeover

30th July 2007

Abcam has revealed it is in discussions with a number of companies about a possible takeover bid for the firm.

The antibodies retailer recently announced that it is in preliminary talks with "a small number of potential offerers", which it did not name.

Any offer to be made would be likely to amount to the full outstanding share stock for the company, Abcam stated.

But it noted that "there can be no certainty that an offer will be made for the company" and that a further announcement should be expected when a decision is reached.

Financial advisers Numis Securities and Piper Jaffray are each assisting Abcam in the discussions, the firm added.

Abcam also recently reported that its new high-throughput facility in Cambridge has been brought online.

This is likely to result in up to 30 million pounds in additional annual revenue, the antibodies retailer claimed.ADNFCR-1050-ID-18227477-ADNFCR
