Actavis details Malta warehousing development project

28th September 2012

Actavis has announced plans to create a new warehouse adjacent to its plant in Malta as it seeks to expand its operational capabilities.

The company will be investing a total of 13 million euros (10.36 million pounds) in the construction, with funding to be partially contributed by Malta Enterprise and the local ministry of finance, economy and investment.

It will feature a built area of around 5,000 sq m and maximum capacity of 7,500 pallet locations, thus providing a strong structural platform for growth in one of Actavis' key launch sites for new products.

Actavis' managing director in Malta Patrick Cachia said: "The Malta facility is a key site to the Actavis group through strong customer service, first-to-market launches, strong GMP and environmental, health and safety commitment, whilst maintaining a cost-competitive edge through a continuous improvement philosophy."

Currently, Actavis is undergoing a major integration process with new parent company Watson, which agreed a 4.25 billion euro deal to purchase the company in April 2012.

Due to be completed by the end of the year, the merger will create the third-largest generics company in the world.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801459780-ADNFCR
