Actelion makes donation for Japanese earthquake relief

23rd March 2011

Actelion has become the latest pharmaceutical company to make a pledge to donate funds to help support relief efforts in Japan following the March 11th 2011 earthquake.

The firm has agreed to provide 25 million yen (189,400 pounds) to help the nation after the recent seismic activity and subsequent tsunami, while offering assurances that its local ordering system and drug supply have not been impacted.

In addition to this, Actelion is encouraging its employees worldwide to make contributions of their own, which the company has pledged to match with its own funds.

The drug manufacturer states that it has delegated the task of selecting the most appropriate organisations to receive the donations to Satoshi Tanaka, president of its Japanese operations.

It explained that this will ensure that its contributions reach "those most in need of this assistance".

Earlier this month, Actelion's senior management team were presented with several prizes at the 2011 Institutional Investor All-Europe Awards, coming second in the overall ranking of most honoured companies.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800472802-ADNFCR
