Actelion “very pleased” with 2009 half-year financial results

21st July 2009

Actelion has announced its satisfaction with its financial results for the first six months of 2009.

The company posted total net revenues of 855.2 million Swiss francs (483.6 million pounds) and an operating profit of 242.9 million Swiss francs.

In the corresponding period in 2008, these figures stood at 676 million Swiss francs and 137.2 million Swiss francs, respectively.

Chief financial officer Andrew Oakley said: “Actelion is reporting strong top and bottom line growth.”

He explained that he is confident that the company will exceed initial guidance and that, barring unforeseen events, both total net revenues and cash earnings before interest and taxes will rise between 16 and 19 per cent for the full year.

Actelion chief executive Jean-Paul Clozel added: “I am very pleased with our performance in the first six months of 2009.”

Earlier this month, the company announced positive data from a trial into its first-in-class orally-active non-prostanoid PGI2 receptor agonist in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension.
