Advanced Medical Solutions announces first half results

6th September 2007

Advanced Medical Solutions (AMS) has announced interim results for the six months ending June 30th, suggesting first half pre-tax profits of 700,000 pounds.

The global medical technology group asserts that revenue is up more than a fifth (22 per cent) at 7.9 million pounds, with gross margin improved from 40 per cent to 43 per cent.

The profit contrasts with a first half loss of 100,000 pounds in 2006 and builds on full year pre-tax profits last year of 600,000 pounds.

Dr Geoffrey Vernon, chairman of the firm, observes: “AMS continues to make excellent progress. Having delivered maiden first half profits and further strengthened the balance sheet, the group is well positioned for future growth, both organically and through mergers and acquisitions.”

He added that he was “delighted” to report strong trading for the first half of the year.

Some of the period’s highlights have included the successful launch of a surgical skin sealant in the US by Kimberly-Clark and the continued growth of the silver alginate operations.

Last month the firm announced that University College London Hospitals had adopted products from its advanced woundcare product range and had implemented them for routine use.
