Agency partners selected for WPP/Boots comms partnership
WPP and Walgreen Boots Alliance have selected a number of agency partners to support their ambitious new global communications partnership.
The initiative will see WPP tasked with handling marketing, communications and advertising for Walgreen Boots Alliance's global retail and wholesale businesses, with an estimated $600 million (481.27 million pounds) valuation placed on the deal.
This will involve the creation of a team of WPP agencies, dubbed Team WPP, to operate and develop multiple comms channels for the brief. It has now been confirmed that Finsbury, Ogilvy and Burson-Marsteller will handle PR functions, reports PRWeek.
Over time, more than 200 existing marketing and communications agencies and suppliers will be gradually transitioned to a single agency model – a process that will be developed over the next few months.
Yves Romestan, senior vice-president for communications and international affairs at Walgreen Boots Alliance, said: "It is because of its scale and territorial coverage, and therefore its ability to support any future expansion, that WPP has been chosen as our partner in this venture."
It has not yet been confirmed whether or not other WPP PR agencies such as Cohn and Wolfe and Hill and Knowlton Strategies will be involved in the work.
