Agilent launches new biomolecule analysis technology

16th March 2010

Agilent has introduced a number of new ion exchange and size exclusion column products designed for use in the analysis of biomolecules.

The science company has launched four new product families in total, all of which are optimised to allow biopharmaceutical manufacturers to monitor the efficacy, stability and safety of products.

Among the new ranges are the Bio SEC-3 and Bio SEC-5 size exclusion columns, which allow for stable analysis of monoclonal antibodies, while the Bio MAb and Bio IEX columns are designed for high-resolution molecule separations.

The firm states that these products have benefits for those involved in analysing antibodies, recombinant proteins, peptides, vaccine products and DNA/RNA.

Helen Stimson, vice-president and general manager of Agilent’s consumables and supplies division, said: “With the addition of these new biocolumns, we can now offer our customers significant improvements in charge-based and size-based analytical separations of biomolecules.”

Last week, the company agreed a deal to divest a number of product lines from its newly-acquired subsidiary Varian to Bruker in order to fulfil the regulatory terms of its takeover.
