Agilent launches new kinome-based target enrichment kit

4th October 2010

Agilent Technologies has launched a new target enrichment kit for use in the emerging field of kinome-based sequencing studies.

The SureSelect Kinome Target Enrichment Kit is able to target genes for analysis of more than 500 known kinases, using SureSelect technology to sequence only the genomic region of interest.

According to the firm, human kinase studies are becoming increasingly prevalent in the production of biomarkers, as well as potential cancer drug targets.

The assay has been developed in association with Dr Rene Bernards of the Netherlands Cancer Institute at Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Hospital, who said the product could help in choosing patients for targeted therapies.

Dr Emily LeProust, director for applications and chemistry research and development in Agilent's genomics division, said: "Agilent's collaboration with Dr Bernards has resulted in the development of a human kinome kit that enriches for the most comprehensive set of kinase and kinase-related genes."

Last month, the company reported that it has entered the second phase of a new collaborative project to map the complete human proteome, for use in future biomarker discovery applications.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800097202-ADNFCR
