Agilent reports strong growth for second quarter of 2017

23rd May 2017

Agilent Technologies has announced its financial results for the second quarter of 2017, during which it generated a revenue total of $1.1 billion (847.65 million pounds).

This represented a year-on-year increase of eight percent, or nine percent on a core basis, while its GAAP net income figure jumped to $164 million, up from $91 million during the corresponding quarter of last year.

The firm's life sciences and applied markets group saw its performance bolstered by double-digit growth in the chemical and energy, pharma and environmental markets, while the CrossLab Group continued to see solid growth across all geographies.

Additionally, Agilent's diagnostics and genomics group saw a strong result from its pharma and diagnostic and clinical end-markets.

Based on these encouraging Q2 figures, Agilent is raising its full-year core revenue growth and earnings expectations, with revenue of between $4.36 billion and $4.38 billion expected for the full 12 months.

Mike McMullen, Agilent's president and chief executive officer, said: "We continue to deliver on our long-term focus of driving above-market growth, expanding operating margins and deploying capital in a balanced manner."
