Agilent reports strong start to 2011 fiscal year

15th February 2011

Agilent Technologies has hailed its "excellent start" to the 2011 fiscal year after recording a 25 percent year-on-year revenue growth.

The science company's revenue total for the three months ending on January 31st 2011 came to $1.52 billion (942.3 million pounds), with growth attributed in part to its acquisition of Varian last year.

Sales of electronic measurement, chemical analysis and life sciences products all saw double-digit percentage increases, while similar growth rates were recorded in all global territories.

Agilent has now chosen to raise its revenue guidance for the full year from $6.3 billion to $6.4 billion based on the strength of this performance.

Bill Sullivan, Agilent's president and chief executive officer, said: "We look forward to another year of solid growth and believe that we are well positioned to take advantage of market opportunities as the global economy continues to recover."

Last month, the firm was named company of the year for 2010 by Instrument Business Outlook, based on the strong financial growth it experienced last year.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800406214-ADNFCR
