Agilent reports year-on-year growth during first quarter of 2017
Agilent Technologies has announced strong financial results for the first quarter of its 2017 business year, which ended on January 31st.
During the three-month period, the company generated a reported revenue total of $1.07 billion (858.4 million pounds), representing a year-on-year increase of 3.8 percent, or 4.8 percent on a core basis.
Key drivers of this improvement included a return to growth for the company's chemical and energy business and better-than-expected results from its operations in China. All of the firm's main divisions saw an improved performance compared to last year.
For the full fiscal year, Agilent is now expecting to achieve a revenue of between $4.33 billion and $4.35 billion, having raised its full-year core revenue growth expectations on the strength of its first-quarter results.
Mike McMullen, Agilent's president and chief executive officer, said: "The Agilent team started 2017 with another strong quarter, despite currency headwinds. Our first-quarter revenue and non-GAAP earnings per share exceeded the high end of November's guidance."
