Agilent Technologies agrees takeover of Advanced Analytical Technologies
Agilent Technologies has announced the acquisition of the privately-held life science company Advanced Analytical Technologies.
The $250 million (GBP 180.66 million) deal will augment Agilent's existing expertise and technology in the field of capillary electrophoresis-based solutions, while giving customers a more comprehensive set of products.
Automated electrophoresis is a separation technique commonly used to analyse biomolecules such as nucleic acids, proteins, carbohydrates and small molecules, and is utilised by sectors such as pharma and biopharma, academia and government, clinical and diagnostics, food, environmental and forensics, and chemical and energy.
Advanced Analytical Technologies offers products designed to deliver greater sensitivity and resolution, including instruments, software and consumables that can help to simplify complex workflows.
Patrick Kaltenbach, president of Agilent's life science and applied markets group, said: "This acquisition is another great example of Agilent effectively deploying our capital to create value for our customers and our shareholders."
