Agilent Technologies named company of the year by IBO

Agilent Technologies has been presented with the title of company of the year by Instrument Business Outlook (IBO), a respected industry newsletter.

The publication – which tracks trends in the laboratory products markets by monitoring hundreds of life science and analytical instrument companies on a daily basis – praised Agilent for its strong business performance in recent years.

Since fiscal 2015, the firm has delivered growing sales while keeping costs constant, with its 2017 revenue growth noted as being the fastest since 2010. Recent investments – including an expansion of its diagnostics business, entry into new markets such as cell analysis, and additions to successful franchises – have also paid off.

The newsletter highlighted Agilent's increased growth in revenues, operating profit and net income as reasons why it was selected for the prize, noting that any gains achieved were the result of a sustained effort to deliver sustainable growth.

Patrick Kaltenbach, president of Agilent's life sciences and applied markets group, said: "It is rewarding that an organization with an in-depth knowledge of the industry, such as IBO, recognises Agilent's current strategy is the right one resulting in consistent growth."
