Agilent Technologies releases online microarray design tool

Agilent Technologies has announced the launch of an online microarray design tool, called eArray 5.4.

The tool has been manufactured to allow users to design custom microRNA (miRNA) microarrays, together with the company’s range of pre-designed human, rat or mouse probes miRNA probes.

Agilent’s Sanger 12.0 also offers miRNA sequences of 87 species which can be accessed in microarrays, the firm said.

Sangita Parikh, Agilent’s miRNA product manager, explained the demand for such products: "The miRNA community is eager to profile more miRNAs as they become available in the public domain and we’re enabling researchers to do this rapidly on a proven microarray platform with robust, user-friendly protocols," he stated.

In addition, the company has revealed it has updated miRNA Release 12.0, its human and mouse microarrays, which include the most recent probes from the Sanger miRBASE 12.0 database.

Those in science sales jobs may also be interested in the Agilent Technologies Foundation’s grant fund for the first half of the fiscal year 2009. Some $1.7 million (1.16 million pounds) will be allocated to education and research organisations.
