Agilent Technologies reveals new LC/MS system
Agilent Technologies has announced a new addition to its range of scientific instruments – a research-grade, triple-quadrupole liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS) system.
The company said the new 6495B system builds on the success of the 6495A by offering enhanced sensitivity and accuracy for functions such as environmental testing, clinical research and forensic toxicology.
New features include improved mass range, scan speed and polarity switching, which enable better analysis of molecules from a broad range of sample matrices.
Monty Benefiel, Agilent Technologies vice-president and general manager of the firm's mass spectrometry division, stressed that laboratories are looking for instruments that offer "quick and reliable" solutions to their analytical problems.
"From low-level quantification of peptides in life science research, to the detection of mycotoxins and other contaminants in food, the Agilent 6495B is an excellent choice," he added.
The company also expanded its biopharmaceutical portfolio this week with the launch of the 6545XT advanced LC/MS system, which is intended to help scientists characterise biomolecules that could lead to new therapeutics.
