Agilent Technologies unveils research investment plans

19th June 2009

Agilent Technologies has revealed plans to invest in research projects at dozens of universities worldwide.

The company has chosen 44 different projects to receive support, based at 34 institutions.

Of these, 26 are located in North America, while the remaining 19 are split equally between Europe and Asia.

Guidance and consultation is to be provided by 38 Agilent employees, with director of university relations and external research Jack Wenstrand explaining the firm’s personnel "play an active role in engagements with top universities on topics of mutual interest".

"Agilent invests in understanding and developing measurement technologies that advance measurement instrumentation and applications," he added.

The company noted much of the projects are in the bio-analytical arena, with developments in chemical separation and DNA analysis the focus – and food safety and cancer biology among the problems the research is to be applied to.

Earlier this week, Agilent announced the introduction of a range of miniature oscilloscope probes.
