Agilent to offer augmented Bravo liquid handling platform

Agilent Technologies is allying with BioSystem Development to launch an improved version of its Bravo automated liquid handling platform next month.

The science companies are collaborating to incorporate AssayMAP high-throughput micro-chromatography technology into the platform for improved protein sample preparation capabilities.

According to Agilent, this combination of technologies will allow true chromatography separations on disposable, 5 ul packed-bed columns in a 96-channel SBS microplate format to be conducted for the first time.

This new innovation will be launched by Agilent at the forthcoming Lab Automation industry meeting in January 2011.

Nitin Sood, general manager of Agilent's automation solutions division, said: "We believe that the combined strength of Agilent's automation and the AssayMAP technology will improve biologics discovery and development, reducing cycle times and improving the quality of results."
