Alcon placed 74th named ‘top employer’

26th January 2009

Alcon has been placed in Fortune Magazine’s 100 Best Companies To Work For league table.

Positioned 74th, the company has now appeared in the list 11 years in a row.

Chairman, president and chief executive officer of the group Cary Rayment said: “Here at Alcon, we all genuinely care about the work we are doing to preserve, restore and enhance sight.

“With the importance of the work, comes an employee enthusiasm that translates to a positive corporate culture.”

Kay Cox, Alcon vice-president of human resources, added it was “an honour” to be placed on the list.

Currently employing almost 15,000 people around the world, the organisation was founded in 1945 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Alcon’s 2007 sales were $5.6 billion (4.07 billion pounds), with net earnings of $1.6 billion.
