21st February 2008

Alcon Laboratories’ chairman, president and chief executive officer has expressed his pleasure with the company’s financial results, following the release of fourth-quarter and full-year 2007 figures.

Cary Rayment stated: “I am extremely pleased with our results for 2007, because they validate the strength of our business and financial model.”

The eye-specialist reported global sales of $1,469 million (753 million pounds) for the fourth quarter of 2007, a 20 per cent increase on the same period in 2006.

Alcon also confirmed that $15.1 million of its total sales were related to WaveLight’s products following Alcon’s acquisition of the company.

For the full year of 2007, the firm announced global sales of $5,599 million ? an increase of 14.4 per cent over 2006 global sales.

Net earnings for 2007 were $1,586 million compared to $1,348 million for the full year 2006, an increase of 17.7 per cent.

Mr Rayment said that the results reflected the company’s “ability to take advantage of our global organisation to drive market-share gains with our leading brands and with new products”.

Earlier this month, Alcon Laboratories announced that it had been listed as one of the best 100 companies to work for in Fortune magazine.
