Alere Triage CardioProfiler shows efficacy in study

9th June 2011

Alere has highlighted data from a new clinical study which underlines the benefits of its Triage CardioProfiler as a diagnostic device.

The system was recently utilised in a large multinational study, results from which have been published in The Lancet, assessing a new two-hour protocol for assessing patients suffering from chest pains.

This technique involves the use of a thrombolysis in myocardial infarction pre-test probability score, an electrocardiograph and results from the Alere device to determine patients' risk of a serious cardiac event.

It was found that this provided a reliable and relatively rapid means of identifying patients at low risk of a serious cardiac event, compared to the six-hour assessments that are currently common.

Alere said: "As evidenced by the study, this turnaround time, when integrated into the accelerated diagnostic protocol, potentially allows for the rapid evaluation of chest-pain presenters and the effective discharge of low-risk patients."

Earlier this year, the company announced the rebranding and relaunch of the Determine diagnostic product range, having amended packaging to include the Alere name more prominently.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800573548-ADNFCR
