Align and 3Shape announce product interoperability features

29th April 2016

Align Technology has announced that a number of technology offerings from 3Shape are to be made compatible with its Invisalign clear aligner system.

The agreement will allow 3Shape's Trios Standard, Trios Color and Trios 3 scanners to be used for Invisalign case submissions, upon completion of the final validation process expected in the final quarter of this year.

Invisalign providers with a 3Shape Trios intraoral scanner and up-to-date software will therefore be able to submit a full arch digital impression in place of a traditional polyvinyl siloxane impression as part of the case submission process.

A separate collaborative agreement has also been reached to enhance the existing STL export workflow with iTero scanners and laboratory partners using 3Shape's Dental System software, providing improved consistency for customers using this workflow.

Raphael Pascaud, chief of portfolio marketing and business development officer at Align Technology, said: "We are excited to expand our collaboration with 3Shape to provide both Invisalign and iTero customers with improved digital treatment workflows."

The company announced earlier this month that it will be extending its orthodontic training programme to 12 dental universities and hospitals across the UK in the coming months.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801817675-ADNFCR
