Align Technology and Cadent to develop new dental software

17th January 2011

Align Technology is allying with Cadent to develop new dental software for use with its Invisalign tooth alignment appliances.

The new applications will run on the Cadent iTero and iOC scanners and will offer better case assessment and planning for dental professionals conducting an Invisalign treatment, as well as a variety of chair-side digital tools.

Before development of this software can begin, Align will first complete final beta tests validating Cadent's systems for use with Invisalign, with interoperability expected to be confirmed in the second quarter of 2011.

The collaboration will involve several million dollars of investment from Align over the coming months and will grant the company all ownership rights to the applications and technology.

Thomas Prescott, Align's president and chief executive officer, said: "Our partnership with Cadent allows us to leverage our own and other innovative technology to bring digital diagnosis and treatment tools conveniently chair-side in customers' practices."

Last month, the firm announced it will be launching an expanded series of international grants to fund research into misalignment of teeth and clear aligner technology.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800346751-ADNFCR
