Align Technology celebrates four millionth Invisalign patient worldwide

Align Technology has announced that its flagship Invisalign clear aligner system has now been used to treat more than four million patients worldwide.

The four millionth patient was a British man, Matthew Webb, who was treated by Invisalign professional Dr Graham Tinkler at the Bupa Dental Centre at Bank, London. To mark this milestone, Mr Webb will be featured in an upcoming Invisalign advertising campaign.

Also of note is the fact that take-up of the system seems to be accelerating, allowing the company to get from one million to four million patients in half the time it took to originally reach the one million milestone.

Joe Hogan, Align Technology's president and chief executive officer, said: "We strive to provide Invisalign practices and their patients with the best treatment possible and believe every patient should have access to the most advanced treatment options for a healthy smile."

In connection with this achievement, Align Technology has agreed to donate a dollar to Operation Smile for every social media share of a photo of a smile on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #4millionsmiles, for a total donation of up to $1 million (750,500 pounds).

This money will ultimately go towards providing treatment to children around the world born with cleft lip and cleft palate.
