ALK Abello to launch new adrenaline treatment for allergies

7th October 2010

ALK Abello is to release a new adrenaline pen for use among those suffering severe allergic reactions at the beginning of next year.

The company has developed an adrenaline auto-injector called Jext, which provides emergency treatment for people undergoing anaphylaxis as a result of foods or bee stings.

It is intended as a replacement for ALK's current in-licensed product offering, the sale and distribution agreement for which will now come to an end on December 31st 2010.

ALK is expecting approval from European health authorities for Jext to be issued soon, paving the way for its planned introduction of the product to its first European markets on January 1st 2011.

The company states that the launch of Jext will allow it to expand the geographic reach of its adrenaline range, as well as helping to "substantially improve earnings from the business area within the next few years".

According to ALK's most recent financial report, the company saw year-on-year growth in sales and earnings during the first six months of 2010.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800103530-ADNFCR
