Allergan announces Clinique collaboration

25th January 2008

Allergan is to collaborate with Clinique Laboratories to develop a skin care line for use in the medical aesthetics sector, it emerged this week.

The company, which manufactures products including Botox, Restasis and Lumigan, will team up with Clinique and offer the range exclusively to doctors for complementary use with in-office non-surgical procedures.

The skin care line will incorporate Clinique’s brand name and is aimed at providing a trustworthy and scientifically-proven approach for patients, according to Allergan’s chairman of the board and chief executive officer David Pyott.

He added: “The collaboration combines Allergan’s leadership in medical aesthetics ? with Clinique’s history of formulating leading consumer skin care products guided by dermatologists.”

Non-surgical procedures have grown in popularity throughout the past few years, with Botox and dermal fillers such as Juvederm being more widely used in addition to laser hair removal and microdermabrasion.

Botox is also used for conditions such as hyperhydrosis and blepharospasm as well as its cosmetic purposes.
