Allergan pigment-lightening product said to be impressive

5th January 2009

Allergan’s Vivite Vibrance Therapy product has been described as one of the “most impressive” available by an industry expert.

Recently in Allure magazine, the Allergan pigment-lightening method was reviewed alongside other new additions to the market.

It aims to help people tackle dark spots on their skin after the first few weeks of usage and includes methyl dihydroxybenzoate to help discolouration fade.

“I believe this represents a significant development,” said David H McDaniel, clinical dermatology and plastic surgery assistant professor at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia.

“The cream delivers the results of a prescription-strength gel in a product dispensed by physicians without a prescription,” he added.

Allure reported that Vivite Vivance was developed following a trial of eight weeks in which two sets of females used the product on one half of their face and a four per cent hydroquinone mixture on the other.

The results were found to be “directionally significant” in Allergan’s favour.

The California-based company announced at the end of last month that Latisse (bimatoprost ophthalmic solution) 0.03 per cent had been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration.
