Almirall appoints first female board member

Almirall has announced the appointment of Dr Karin Louise Dorrepaal as a new independent member of its board of directors.

Dr Dorrepaal is set to become the first female member of the board, with her appointment to take effect from January 1st 2013, subject to ratification at the company's next annual general meeting.

Her professional career spans more than 25 years and has seen her occupy various top-level positions in the pharmaceutical and international strategic consultancy sectors.

She has been responsible for leading a number of pharmaceutical business model transformation processes and currently holds non-executive positions in companies related to the healthcare sector and consultancy.

Almirall said her "experience, her business acumen and her global insight" are the key reasons behind the appointment.

Earlier this month, the company reported its financial results for the third quarter of 2012, during which it experienced a 5.7 percent increase in revenues year over year.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801494551-ADNFCR
