Altana announces record figures

20th March 2006

International business accounts were the driving force behind Altana’s double-digit growth in both sales and net income for 2005.

Altana has announced that record figures have been achieved in the two areas, while investment and R&D expenses also increased.

“The significant increase in the most important corporate key figures over the last ten years mirrors our long-term strategy which we will continue to implement successfully and continuously,” said Dr Nikolaus Schweickart.

International business accounted for 82 per cent of total sales, with a value of some 2.7 billion euros. This is an increase of nine per cent on 2004’s figures.

Operating income was up by 12 per cent and net income rose by 16 per cent. Money spent on research and development was not compromised; Altana declared that 20 per cent of therapeutic sales revenue was invested in R&D.

In the therapeutics sector, Altana’s key business areas, the company recorded a sales increase of 13 per cent to 2.1 billion euros.
