Amgen and Dompe form commerical parternship in Italy

Amgen and Dompe Biotec have mutually announced that they are to form a commercial partnership in Italy meaning that Amgen products will now fall under a single company, Amgen-Dompe.

Dompe Biotec is already Amgen’s co-marketing partner in Italy but under this latest move the companies will come into closer cooperation.

Amgen-Dompe will be based in Milan and organised as an Amgen affiliate comprising of current Amgen and Dompe staff as well as current Amgen research and development staff.

Heading up the partnership will be current president and chief executive officer of Dompe Biotec Eugenio Aringhieri, while Marco Renoldi, currently managing director of Amgen Italy, will take the role of managing director.

Rolf Hoffmann, senior vice president of Amgen international commercial operations, welcomed the move and outlined the benefits it would bring.

“This new arrangement will make our operations in Italy stronger and better organised to achieve sustained long-term growth and continued commitment to excellence in service to patients.”

This week, Amgen announced that it had postponed indefinitely its plans to design and construct a bulk manufacturing facility in County Cork, Ireland.
