Amgen announces winners of psoriasis contest

7th July 2009

Amgen has announced the winners of its Addressing Psoriasis contest, which it has run in collaboration with Wyeth.

The competition recognised the efforts that people who have been affected by the condition have taken to lead normal lives and not allow their symptoms to inhibit their personal style, the company explains.

Addressing Psoriasis is a key element within an awareness campaign designed to help those with plaque psoriasis to obtain more information about the management of their condition and how to feel more comfortable on a daily basis.

The contest saw hundreds of people submit video testimonials about their lives, as well as essays, to Amgen and Wyeth.

Members of the public are now being encouraged to vote for the story they find to be most inspirational.

Commenting on the contest, fashion consultant Tim Gunn said: “Confidence and style go hand-in-hand and these contest winners have clearly demonstrated that personal style can thrive even with a chronic disease like psoriasis.”

Mr Gunn has presented a number of different TV shows, including Gunn’s Guide to Style and Project Runway.
