Amgen has appointed new global development head

20th August 2014

Amgen has announced the appointment of Elliot Levy as its new senior vice-president for global development, effective as of September 8th 2014.

Mr Levy joins the company from Bristol-Myers Squibb, where he worked for a total of 17 years, most recently serving as senior vice-president and head of specialty development. Prior to this, he occupied a range of senior positions and fulfilled various clinical development and related responsibilities.

Before joining Bristol-Myers Squibb, he was a member of the renal division at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, where he served as an investigator in government-sponsored outcomes research, as well as industry-backed clinical trials.

His track record of success in leading major clinical development programmes will serve him well in his new position at Amgen.

Dr Sean Harper, executive vice-president of research and development at Amgen, said: "We're confident that he will help Amgen to serve patients by advancing the large number of potential new medicines in our late-stage pipeline."

This comes after the firm restructured its leadership team by appointing David Piacquad to the newly-created role of senior vice-president for business development earlier this year.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801743309-ADNFCR
