10th July 2009

Amgen has appointed Dr Rebecca Henderson to its board of directors, it has announced.

Having held the position of Eastman Kodak LFM professor of management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Sloan School since 1999, Dr Henderson recently became a member of the faculty at the Harvard Business School.

Specialising in technology strategy, as well as the broader strategic issues firms in high-end technology sectors face, Dr Henderson has also been a research associate with the National Bureau of Economic Research since 1995.

Amgen notes: “From 1995 to 1999, Dr Henderson was a tenured associate professor at the MIT Sloan School. She has been a director of IDEXX Laboratories since 2003.”

Her appointment, which will see her serve as a member of the corporate responsibility and compliance and governance and nominating committees on the panel, brings the total number of members on Amgen’s board to 13.

Other members of the board include David Baltimore, Jerry Choate and Francois de Carbonnel.
