Amgen names new member of board of directors
Amgen has announced the appointment of Ellen Kullman as the newest member of its board of directors, bringing the total number of board members to 14.
Ms Kullman is the former president, chair and chief executive officer of the science and technology-based company DuPont, a role she occupied from January 2009 to October 2015 following a number of years with the business.
She has been a director of United Technologies since 2011 and of Dell Technologies and Temasek since earlier this year. Ms Kullman has also served as a director for a number of other companies, including General Motors and Carbon3D.
In her role at Amgen, she will serve as a member of the audit committee and the governance and nominating committee of the board.
Robert Bradway, chairman and chief executive officer of Amgen, said: "Ellen's deep experience in high-technology global businesses with strong regulatory oversight will be invaluable to Amgen as we grow our business and pursue our mission to serve patients."
Her appointment means that 13 of the 14 members of the board are independent.
