25th October 2017

Amgen has announced the appointment of Dr Wanda Austin as the newest member of its board of directors, effective as of its December board and committee meetings.

Dr Austin is the retired president and chief executive officer of the Aerospace Corporation, a leading architect of US national security space programmes, where she served from 2008 until her retirement in 2016.

She worked at the Aerospace Corporation from 1979 in various positions, while she has also served as an adjunct research professor at the University of Southern California and as co-founder of the US charity organisation MakingSpace.

In her new role at Amgen, Dr Austin will serve as a member of the board's audit committee and the corporate responsibility and compliance committee. Following her appointment, the board will consist of 14 directors, 13 of whom are independent.

Robert Bradway, chairman and chief executive officer of Amgen, said: "Wanda's deep experience in long-cycle technology and engineering settings and her senior leadership experience will be invaluable to Amgen."
