Anachem highlights benefits of new cell lysing reagent

13th August 2009

Anachem has highlighted the ease of use with which its new product allows individuals to prepare DNA samples for amplification.

Entitled DNAreleasy, the lysing reagent removes the need for a lengthy extraction process or spin column, the firm explains.

With just a ten minute incubation period on a thermal cylinder needed before DNA can be used in a PCR, DNAreleasy can be mixed with cells and overlaid with mineral oil.

It is then placed in a thermal cycler and treated at 75 degrees C for five minutes and a further two minutes at 96 degrees C. After being held at a temperature of 20 degrees C, DNA will be ready to use, Anachem claims.

The product can be used on a wide variety of DNA, including that of mice and rats, plants, yeast, viruses and human fibroblast tissue culture cells.

In May, Amachem stated that companies using its MicroSol3+ Super concentrated decontamination solution will have better protection against an array of potential problems.
