Andor launches new software

23rd July 2008

Andor Technology has launched its latest method to fight EMCCD gain ageing.

The firm has released a new Emcal software method of EM gain self-recalibration for its pioneering iXon+ range of cameras.

Dr Colin Coates, market development manager at the company, said because the Emcal calibration check is an on-site process it can be applied regularly and requires little effort, so users of Andor’s back-illuminated EMCCDs will not be restricted by the EM gain ageing phenomenon.

"[The software] offers great peace of mind to multi-user imaging facilities and laboratories in particular," he added.

Earlier in the year, Andor was included on a new index to promote US investment in Ireland.

Conor Walsh, the firm’s chief executive, said it was an honour to be included in the listing promoting Northern Ireland investment opportunities.

The organisation has headquarters in Belfast and employs more than 160 staff with distribution to about 40 countries.

It was founded in 1989 by scientists working in the physics department of Queen’s University.
