Ansell provides record product donations for Philippines typhoon recovery
Ansell has announced that it has donated a record-breaking contribution of medical and industrial products to aid relief efforts in the Philippines following the Haiyan typhoon.
Since the natural disaster struck the Asian nation in November 2013, the company has contributed 1.7 million medical exam gloves and more than 680,000 pairs of surgical gloves to assist in Direct Relief's support of local health services.
Industrial and specialty market gloves have also been used in recovery and rebuilding efforts, making Ansell's largest ever product donation to a single organisation in response to a natural disaster.
The company has pledged to continue to aid Direct Relief in its ongoing efforts to help the region rebuild and resume normal life.
Magnus Nicolin, Ansell's managing director and chief executive officer, said: "It is our hope that these Ansell products will be instrumental in facilitating measurable progress in the recovery effort for the healthcare sector, as well as in rebuilding of the Philippines communities."
Earlier this month, the company completed the acquisition of BarrierSafe Solutions International, a leading North American provider of single-use gloves.
