Applied Biosystems product wins award

Applied Biosystems and MDS Analytical Technologies are celebrating winning an award for their next-generation mass spectrometer system.

The partnership of the two companies was responsible for the creation of the AB SCIEX QTRAP 5500 product, which was chosen by SelectScience.net for a Scientists’ Choice Award.

Commenting on the accolade, website editor Kerry Parker said the system had clearly demonstrated an ability to inspire the scientific community, despite having been around for a relatively short time.

She added the honour "provides a unique channel for the online community to voice opinions and provide feedback to manufacturers about which new products have significantly contributed towards laboratory research efforts".

The AB SCIEX QTRAP 5500 system enables the user to identify multiple compounds, proteins and contaminants in the field of drug discovery and disease research, among other things.

Applied Biosystems and MDS Analytical Technologies announced plans to test a range of new mass spectrometry applications.
